History

MCII Electric was founded in 1971 in Dallas, Texas. It began as a small business primarily involved in generator set rental and leasing. MCII expanded their services in the 1980's when they began to perform on-site overhaul of large (1Mw and greater) power generation equipment for both government and commercial customers. It was during this time that MCII bid and successfully won a contract to build Model MEP-012, 750kW Generator Sets for the U.S. Air Force. This contract led to the production of 134 of these sets. The MEP-012 is the prime power generator used in the USAF's Harvest Falcon/Eagle Bare Base and Army's 249th Engineer BN Prime Power Support programs.

During the 1990's MCII continued their efforts to become a major supplier of military generator sets and power generation equipment. In addition to overhaul work for such customers as the U.S. Navy and NASA, MCII continued to produce MEP-012's and was also awarded a contract to manufacture Model ECU-110, 250kW Motor Generator Sets for the U.S. Air Force.

In 1997, MCII was purchased by Westwoood Corporation, a Tulsa, Oklahoma based holding company with two successful divisions; NMP which manufactures shipboard electrical control and distribution equipment, and TANO a developer of hardware and software for sophisticated naval control systems. Under Westwood's guidance MCII has continued to evolve into the sole supplier of Models MEP-805B, 815B, 806B, and 816B 30kW and 60kW Tactical Quiet Generator Sets to the U.S. Military. Under a contract awarded in 1996, MCII has delivered over 3000 of these units. We have also been awarded the follow-on contract for these sets which runs through 2007. These generator sets support a variety of operations including weapon systems, missile systems, water purification, and field hospitals and schools.

In addition to supplying the military, MCII also produces various size generator sets for commercial customers, and is pursuing alternative fueled power technology for multi-function ground support equipment.

L-3 MCII provides generator sets ranging in size from 1 Kilowatt to 3 Megawatts utilizing diesel or alternative fuel driven small or large bore engines. We have produced and delivered thousands of generator sets to the military. Some of our products include the 30 kW and 60 kW, 50/60 Hz and 400 Hz Tactical Quiet Generator Sets for the Department of Defense (MEP-805B, MEP-815B, MEP-806B, MEP-816B). We have also supplied the 750 kW, 50/60 Hz Wheel Mounted Generator Set (MEP-012).

Ground Support Equipment

L-3 MCII has manufactured various pieces of ground support equipment for government and commercial use. Our facilities and staff are uniquely adaptable to the requirements associated with design, manufacture, and test of this type of hardware.
