Highly trained and skilled employees in the L-3 Communications Electronic Design (EDI) production department build automation and control equipment for both military and commercial applications. Through electromechanical assembly and point-to-point wiring, complex and expertly finished products are assembled with special care for details, quality and reliability. The company's capabilities include complete turnkey systems with ground-up design and manufacture, design-to-specification, second-source production (build-to-print), reverse engineering, complete documentation and integrated logistics support.

Upgrade/retrofit of machinery plant control and monitoring system (MPCMS) to state-of-the-art microprocessor-based software system using COTS technology. System includes:
- 15 COTS programmable logic controllers (PLCs)
- 12 Windows® NT®-based workstations
- Ethernet connection to local area network (LAN)
- Five automatic transfer mode (ATM) switches
- On-board training (OBT) system
